The most important thing the players need to do is to institute a Youth Development Program
within the Club. This will most likely be at weekends, when public demand is low. This will
be targeted at children between 5 and 11 years and those who are 12 years old
and older. We hope this will encourage many children from Bramhall High School
to take up the game.
Students could make use of the courts in the time between the end of the
School’s day and the beginning of their use by the Leisure Centre. The sport is
intensive, skilful and satisfying. It provides the highest level of intense
physical activity of all sports, and can be played in a relatively short time.
England Squash have already established a highly successful program based on
Mini-Squash which we are confident that we can build upon. We are also making
preliminary investigations to establish the provision of safe and secure Primary
and Junior coaching from established Promoters and Sport Development Specialists
who have been recommended by Stockport Sports Trust.
We believe the development of the sport relies on the enthusiasm and drive of
its players. With this in mind we will also seek to promote a varied and
exciting series of events for players at all levels within the facility. As well
as using our established links with England Squash and Stockport Sports Trust,
we have plans to contact non-squash playing sports clubs to promote the club and
encourage a broad membership.
For instance, we intend to hold an open Valedictory Competition and Social Event
for all players on the last weekend prior to the closure prior to redevelopment
of the courts. Notice of this event will be advertised in the first BHSSC
newsletter we hope to publish later this month. We invite all to attend to play
or just call in to chat and find out a little bit more about the Club and what
we hope to offer.
